On this page I have uploaded pictures of all the models that I have created from when I first started learning the software up to now. Hopefully by looking through you can see the progress that I have made and the new techniques I have learnt over time. Each model will have a picture(s) of the finished outcome as well as “design” shots showing the model being created. Some may also have a download link. Please use the tabs below to navigate between the years.
This page may load slowly due to the number of high resolution renders to show the detail in models.
This is a 3D outdoor environment I created in 3DS Max. I created it once I had finished university as a way to practice new tools and plugins. I also wanted to do some practice with photo-realistic models and textures. I am very happy with the result, especially the water as I feel that looks good within the scene.
Feel free to download the file and take a look at it. Note: To view all elements of this file you will need Forest Pack Pro and Vray for 3DS Max.
This is the project I submitted for my dissertation. The brief was; To create a walk through of Newcastle College’s “Games and Digital Media” course, so that prospective students could find out detailed information about it and see the features of the college. For the project I modelled the whole second floor of the college with all the computers, smart boards, etc. As well as making lecturers and adding subtitles.
This is an apartment I modelled for one of my Animation units in my final year. I really liked the outcome of the models and overall scene and had a lot of fun creating it. My modelling skills are definitively better than my animation skills, however the whole scene didn’t turn out too badly. For these render pictures I used “Corona Render”, it is free and gives a nice result in comparison to the default MAX renderers.
Feel free to download the file and take a look at it. Note: Corona Render was used for this project. Corona materials were applied to some objects, if you don’t have Corona Renderer installed some materials may not show up.
These are some other individual models I made throughout the year, some were made for University, some were just made as practice. I enjoy creating models in my spare time as a way to practice my skills and keep them current. 3DS Max is also such an in-depth program, I am always learning new features and techniques.
Ponteland Tennis Club
As part of my “Work Based Learning” module in my second year of university, I had to go out and find a real world client and deliver them a product or service. For my project I worked with Ponteland Tennis Club to deliver a 3D model of the club and then include a video fly-through to show the club to potential new members. I was happy without how the model turned out at the time, however looking back there are a lot of changes I would make.
Second Year Characters
These two characters were the first characters that I had ever attempted to make. They were made for a second year animation, in which the specification was; to create an animation with two low-poly characters. I was happier with the outcome of the “Sackboy” character, as humans were a lot harder to create and I wasn’t very happy with the outcome of the bodybuilder. I found the head particularly hard.
This is the Gym model that the two characters above were animated into. I was not too happy with the outcome, and that was my own fault for not putting enough time into it and putting most of the time into the creation of the characters. I know I could make better, as in my opinion, my first year “Kill house” environment was better. However I was happy with the treadmill as I wanted to have a try at making more complex models.
This was my first introduction to 3D modelling. I was tasked with creating a game environment. One of my favorite games was “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare”, so I decided to recreate the Kill house map. I spent a lot of time on this, there was a lot of individual modelling to be done. I then compiled all the models into one scene and added lighting. I was very happy with the result when I made it, and I still am. As my first ever modelling project, I think the result was great.
